At the gates of Turin a new space to experience first-hand, through role play, a playful and educational experience at the same time
Turin, 20 November 2018. In Beinasco, on the outskirts of Turin, Kandu is born, an amusement park designed for families, where children are the real protagonists. At the Le Fornaci shopping center, the Building Group inaugurates a “tailor-made” city with 2,000 square meters of attractions for the entertainment of children, from 3 to 13 years, to experience the educational and entertainment moment in a single experience. In Kandu, children learn, understand and come into contact with the world that will one day inherit the world of work through role play. In Kandu you learn many trades, the most dreamed of and those of today’s polis, which characterize the different areas of the park: firefighters, bank, theater, newspaper, dentist, supermarket, TV studio, barber, fashion show, jewelry, beauty salon, art academy, chocolate factory, ecological laboratory, mine, hospital, vet, radio, archaeologist, magic school, cooking school. The installations of the various areas of the children’s city were designed by Cinecittà, a symbol of the Italian film industry and also a cinema entertainment park in Cinecittà world in Rome.
“In our daily work, we design places and spaces of life. At Fornaci, we decided to create a park where children can learn to answer the fundamental question of childhood. What do you want to do when you grow up? In Kandu, we want to help children plan their lives tomorrow. To enhance the shopping center with an innovative offer, the Building group has decided to marry Kandu’s international format and, in collaboration with Kandu Italia, to open the first Italian park in Beinasco ”explains Luca Boffa, President of Kandu Turin.
Children of all ages, of any age and of any nationality, culture and tradition have always played by imitating what adults do in everyday life; this is why role-playing is not only a component but the essential part of any game made by children. Today, more than ever, parents are careful in choosing children’s entertainment activities, aware of the fact that in today’s society a solid education is increasingly crucial. This is why the concept of “Edutainment” was devised. Not surprisingly, a significant percentage of Kandu park visitor flows come from schools and organized visits. Kandu looks like a concrete alternative to mechanical parks, play centers and video games, in a safe and welcoming environment for the whole family.
Kandu is also born to offer parents the opportunity to relax and eat quality meals in comfortable environments while their children have fun doing activities that allow them to freely and constructively express their personality and abilities, so that they can observe them outside of the normal game and educational contexts (family, school, friends) appreciating and enhancing their personal qualities. A safe environment is the first prerequisite so that children can enjoy a gaming experience and the family can fully enjoy a moment of leisure in total relaxation. The Kandu format involves the involvement of partner companies interested in an innovative experiential marketing project through which to convey the brand values. Kandu Turin can in fact make use of collaborations with important companies such as Nova Coop, Alkemy, MoleCola, Eco del Chisone, Gelato Pepino, Disco Radio, Polistil. Building was born in Turin in 1983: designing, building, imagining, inventing the city and living, industry and the spaces of commerce, civil, private and leisure places, in Italy and abroad. After designing the Le Fornaci shopping mall, the Building Group carries out Kandu internally, investing in childhood after the many activities that characterize investments in different areas of adult leisure, as in taste with IFSE and Snodo, the food and wine area of the OGR-Officine Grandi Riparazioni, in cosmetics with Alkemy, the wellness of Alfieri6 Urban spa up to the luxury of Fly & Wine, a tour project of the Unesco territory of Langhe, Roero and Monferrato aboard a fleet of helicopters. The group’s core business is still the real estate activities, for which Building is renowned thanks to The Number 6, “the most beautiful house in the world”, a transformation into a contemporary condominium of a gem of the Baroque torino a stone’s throw from Piazza San Carlo, awarded by ArchDaily as Building of the Year 2015 for the restoration category. In addition to The Number6, Building offers the city of Turin other examples of extraordinary interest such as Lagrange12, restoration of a 17th-century building on the corner of Via Lagrange and Via Giolitti, Quadrato, the new project to restore the convent of Sant’Agostino, an ecclesiastical structure dating back to the 16th century in the historic epicenter of Roman Turin and the intervention for the new OGRs, which thanks to the CRT Foundation, are a new research and contemporary culture. Beyond the new projects, there remains the traditional vocation for the spaces of commerce: as for Le Fornaci, the group worked on the design and construction of Settimo Cielo, the shopping center on the outskirts of Turin, which once the expansion was completed , will become one of the largest retail parks in Italy.
