In Turin, the Building Group is inaugurating at Domus Lascaris, from 25 June to 25 November, an exhibition by artist Roberta Bertazzini dedicated to the concept of impermanence. ‘ANITYA’ will also feature a collective work realised by visitors to the exhibition.
From 25 June to 25 November 2024, in Turin, the rationalist palace Domus Lascaris will host Roberta Bertazzini’s new exhibition entitled ‘ANITYA’, a collection of works interpreting the geometry of impermanence in an artistic key, understood as awareness of the ephemeral essence of every material element, the transience of all phenomena and emotions, which transform and fade into becoming.
The exhibition, promoted by the Building Group, which confirms its support for the contemporary art circuit, will consist of 10 works that can be enjoyed at any time of day by people walking along Lascaris, Francesco d’Assisi and Dellala streets. A collection of sculptures and installations intended to contemplate constant change, the abandonment of attachment to material and the beauty hidden in the process of transformation.
Within the exhibition space, located on the ground floor of Domus Lascaris, there will be scheduled meetings with the artist, who will guide visitors in the discovery of their own personal creative experience, where they will recognise the fragility and beauty of change by contributing to the realisation of a collective work.
ANITYA, which in the Sanskrit language means ‘impermanence’, is a concept inspired by Buddhist doctrine, the representation with which the artist intends to lay bare the sense of change and mutability that affects the lives of people and the world around them, depicting the metamorphosis of elements subjected to the creative impulse. Matter, like man, goes through a journey of evolution, breaking down and changing in a process that reflects the human experience. This collection explores the world of oxidation, accidental or induced breakage, and alterations that occur according to the laws of physics, such as those caused by heat.
Roberta Bertazzini, born in Turin in 1969, has dedicated her career to researching and exploring beauty in transformation. Her work stands out for its tactile relationship with matter and her ability to manipulate apparently different materials, from glass to fabric, from paper to iron or oxidised aluminium, from watercolour to transfigured gold leaf. His installations, often in architectural contexts, transform environments into expressive canvases. In fact, his work Oxidum, realised in 2020, is perfectly integrated in the structure of Domus Lascaris and has been the backdrop for all the contemporary art exhibitions that have taken place in the gallery.
‘Roberta Bertazzini’s works offer us an intimate and profound look at the mutability of matter and human experience,’ said Luca Boffa, CEO of the Building Group. Roberta has already signed the permanent work that characterises the hall of Domus Lascaris in the past, but it is with this exhibition that we have the opportunity to fully discover the research and facets of her art, which is constantly evolving”.
