A stone’s throw from Piazza San Carlo, the transformation of a 600th-century building, curated by the Building Group
Turin, September 2016. A new residential project opens in Turin, in via Lagrange, a dialogue between the historical forms of neoclassical and contemporary architecture. In the heart of the shopping promenade born Lagrange12, a residence that has the taste of the timeless style for which Turin is loved in the world. The transformation, curated by the Building Group, is the reconversion of the historic 600 building between the Lagrange and Giolitti streets. After “The Number 6”, winner of the “Building of the Year” award at the world’s most widely read architecture site ArchDaily, Building gives the city a new renovated historic building, a balance between ancient forms, avant-garde domotics and the innovative comfort.
<< Recovering historic buildings means updating the canons of architecture and modernizing the beauty of our cities. Lagrange12 confirms the vocation of Building in the conversion of the historical heritage of living and in the conception of projects that combine the private function with public art, design, creativity, cuisine and fashion >> declares Piero Boffa, President of Building Group.
Lagrange12 is a communion of intent “made in Turin” signed between Building and Pininfarina for the design of spaces and apartments, with the aim of generating a beauty that lasts over time. The architects worked on an area of 3500 square meters, designing seven exclusive apartments, a large storey storey on two floors and two penthouses, with a panoramic terrace overlooking the heart of the city. The works lasted 20 months and led to the total renovation of six floors above ground and two underground floors and the transformation of the neo-classical building, recently used as the seat of the municipal Police municipal offices, which returns to its splendor in the new Turin lounge where the designer labels have recently opened their flagship flagship store.
The complex is home to Lagrange12, a luxury multibrand with a surface area of approximately one thousand two hundred square meters distributed over three floors, five entrances, three of which are on Via Lagrange and two on Via Giolitti: Lagrange12, a G&B Shop space, a Brescia company founded in 1981 under the guide by Gianni Peroni, aims to become an important point of reference for Turin, Italian and international fashion shopping over the course of a season. Some of the most important fashion brands are present with their “shop in shops”: Alexander Mcqueen, Balenciaga, Balmain, Bottega Veneta, Bulgari, Burberry, Celine, Chloé, Christian Dior, Homme, Fendi, Ferragamo, Ferragamo, Givenchy, Loewe , René Caovilla, Saint Laurent, Stella McCartney, Thom Browne and many others …
Lagrange12: fashion but also art. In continuing its commitment to creativity through patronage, the Boffa family commissioned the artist Richi Ferrero with the sculpture Equinox, a lookout of the city, which from the attic of the palace watches over the sky of Turin. Equinox is a luminous work, whose light redraws the outline of the night of the city and ideally joins the Great Warrior (private collection) and the Sagittaurus, which from corso Matteotti and corso Massimo d’Azeglio, form a triad of sculptures that the artist defines << warriors, not conquerors, but lookouts of the mental territory >>. Art is the language through which the Boffa family wanted to accompany the transformation of the building: in the months of work, the Lagrange12 building site turned into a large open air museum, through the exhibition of twelve canvases designed by the students of the ‘Albertina Academy of Fine Arts in Turin, who have made their paintings on the theme “Common Good Creativity”. At the beginning of May, the works were auctioned for € 25 thousand: the proceeds were donated to charity in favor of AIN Onlus, the Childhood Nephropathic Association, and Vivere onlus, Association of Volunteers and Families with children with handicaps.
