In Turin, between the hill and the historic center, Building designs the new forms of living with two real estate projects: In the spring the inauguration of Domus Lascaris, in the summer the start of Uptown Turin, the conversion of a student residence.

Turin, 13 February 2020. Five years after the Building of the Year, the ArchDaily award, the portal most read by architects in the world, which decreed The Number 6 as the best global renovation of 2015, the Building Group inaugurates 2020 in the name of growth, expansion and innovation of living. The group, led by Piero and Luca Boffa, in recent years among the most active players in the real estate sector in Turin, has received a new recognition: the Best of Houzz 2020 in the Design category, an award awarded by the Houzz community, a global leading platform for interior and exterior design and renovation. After the awards in 2017 and 2018, it is the third Houzz Award for the Building Group, which announces two projects for the Piedmontese capital, created by the design studio BP + P Boffa, Petrone & Partners.

In Corso Giovanni Lanza, under the Villa della Regina and towards Monte dei Cappuccini, Uptown Turin will see the light, conversion of the structure of the order La Salle of Villa San Giuseppe, which has hosted university students since 1972. Uptown Turin will become a 4-storey residential building above ground, with numerous cohousing services for tenants, private gardens and a shared vegetable garden, as well as a soccer field, a tennis court, a padel court and a gym: an exclusive and modern terrace on Turin, inserted in the context of the precollina, one of the most requested and noble areas of the city. The works will begin in June 2020 and should take place within 24 months. The architectural style of Uptown can be found in Domus Lascaris, the new building project of Building in Turin, which is expected to be delivered in the spring.

A stone’s throw from the elegant Piazza Solferino, between via Lascaris, via Francesco d’Assisi and via Dellala, the property is a reinterpretation of a rationalist building from the 1950s, signed by BP + P. The project on the residential complex, announced in 2018 and launched the following year, is a redefinition of modernism in a 21st century key and was the protagonist last November of a spectacular installation by the English sculptor Richard Wilson, dedicated to the 50 years of the film The Italian Job, made with Artissima. Much attention has been paid to the environmental impact of the building, based on minimum consumption and high energy class housing units. The skeleton has remained unchanged, while the external envelope expresses itself with a contemporary character in a harmonious composition of openings, sometimes protruding, sometimes recessed into a loggia, in favor of the play of light and shadow in the interior. Domus Lascaris provides for the pedestrianization of via Dellala and the new architecture will dialogue with a public art space, while the inhabitants will enjoy a large wellness area with swimming pool, spa and gym.

“This new decade marks for Building the start of a structured growth path, primarily aimed at consolidating our housing philosophy in Turin, and then exporting it to new horizons” says Piero Boffa, President of the Building Group. “In this sense, the inauguration of Domus Lascaris and the start of Uptown are a fundamental step, but our journey does not stop there, thanks to a virtuous approach devoted to the exaltation of architecture as art, of technological innovation and sustainability “.
